What Cut flowers to use for entertaining on holidays
The silly season is called that for a reason. It is the time of the year where we all take a break from the hustle and bustle and put your feet up and let our hair down and with that said sometimes accidents can happen especially when it comes to enjoying cut flowers.
I recommend you do your homework these holidays. If you know a lot of drinking alcohol is a common occurrence around you these holidays then i recommend you steer away from long stemmed cut flowers especially if they are heavy topped and are woody stemmed.
The reason is that with heavy topped woody stem cut flowers sure they last longer but they are also thirsty drinkers. They drink double of the amount of mainstream cut flowers meaning you must replace the water everyday and make sure the vase is 3/4 full of water so it can balance out the top heavy heads of the blooms with the base of the vase. Shallow water in a vase with heavy top blooms is an accident bound to happen. Remember the golden rule, prevention is better than cure.
I recommend short but wide at the mouth vases and if your able to, floral foam floral arrangements as they are much easier to maintain and you don’t have to worry about changing the water every 2nd day or breakage.
Purchase a lot of the same cut flower. I also recommend that you don’t mix your cut flowers as each cut flower has its own life span and you don’t want to see one type of cut flower aging before the other.
Your cut flower holiday check list is done and i wish you a safe blooming holiday my darling blossoms.
